Anna Szécsényi-Nagy

Szécsényi-Nagy Anna is an archaeogeneticist, researcher, and head of the Institute of Archaeogenomics. She defended her doctoral dissertation in 2015 at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz.

For the past ten years, she has been working at the Research Centre for the Humanities in close cooperation with archaeologists, anthropologists, and historians. Her research focuses on the genetic relationships of prehistoric, ancient, and early medieval human populations across Eurasia, with a particular emphasis on the Carpathian Basin.

In 2023, she launched the 5-year MTA-BTK Lendület ‘Momentum’ Bioarchaeology Research Program, which investigates the lifestyle, cultural, and biological connections of the children and adults who lived in the Roman province of Pannonia.
