Željka Bedić defended her doctoral thesis at the University of Zadar entitled Anthropological analysis of the osteological material of Bijelo brdo populations in the area between the rivers Sava, Danube and Drava. From 2009 to 2023 she has been working at the Anthropological Centre, Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Since 2023 she works as a Research Associate in the Centre for Applied Bioanthropology at the Institute for Anthropological Research in Zagreb. Her main areas of research cover bioarchaeology, paleopathology, trauma analysis, paleodontology and contagious diseases in archaeological populations and she is a member of several scientific organisations relating to these fields. She participated in archaeological excavations at dozen sites in Croatia. Her research output includes, among others, scientific papers, book chapters and a school textbook.
